Podatky Canada is a Telegram bot that keeps the books of a small Canadian business. Send it a photo — it reads the merchant, the date, the total and the GST/HST, shows you what it read, and writes the row only after you confirm. What Podatky Canada does: it creates a bookkeeping spreadsheet in your own Google Drive, writes a row into it for every receipt or invoice you send in Telegram, and files the document itself in a folder beside the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet and the receipts live in your Google Drive, in your own account. Not ours. It is an ordinary Google Sheet, and anyone can read it. It asks Google for a single permission, and here is what it is for: to create your bookkeeping spreadsheet in your own Drive, to write a row into it for every receipt you send, and to keep the photo of that receipt in a folder beside it. That permission reaches exactly those files — the ones the bot made for you — and nothing else. The rest of your Drive is invisible to it, not as a promise, but because Google does not grant it. What it does not do Чого бот не робить
It is not an accountant and it gives no tax advice. It does not decide what is deductible and it files nothing with the CRA. It keeps the record; the decisions stay with you and your accountant.
